Comparing Cultures and What Success means…

Written on April 15, 2008 – 9:03 am | by shylaa

Today I looked around the blogs of a few of my classmates here in Snow Lake. Then I looked at the success and culture posts the students in L.A. wrote.

The kids in L.A. know a lot about their culture. Some of them are from El Salvador, some are Vietnamese and some come from the Philippines. In Canada, we all have many nationalities but we are all born in this country.

We all live the same here and have a Canadian culture. We could say that culture doesn’t have much of a role in our lives, but really, Canadian culture does. Our nationalities cultures don’t though.

I know that some of my nationalities are Indian and German. My Dad’s side of the family comes from Nova Scotia. But mostly I live in a Canadian Culture, no matter where I come from, I was born in Canada and that is the way I live. That is the way most people live around me too.

    Hey Shyla.
I can’t believe you are German and Indian. In your German side, what type of celebrations do you make? How is the food?
About your questions in my cultural blog, my parents come from Mexico. I go to Mexico once a year. We celebrate Mexican occasions such as Cinco De Mayo.
I really don’t wear those bright colored dresses because they’re only for those who dance.
